Trip to California
- 2 minutes read - 240 wordsLast Winter break, I went to California with my friends. To get there, we choose to take the famous train California Zepher from Chicago. I met lots of new friends who love the train like me. It also impressed me to learn that railways across the Rocky Mountains were built by Asian American centuries ago. It is hard to imagine the difficulty to build such a fantastic rail across the mountain, which also led to the California Gold Rush. After visiting the downtown of San Francisco and Silicon Valley, We rent a car and drive along the No.1 Road to Los Angeles. The view is simply fantastic.
The following photo is taken on the Santa Cruz Island in the Channel Islands National Park. On the journey to the island, countless cute dolphins are surrounding the boat. While on the island, there are tons of small cute foxes and birds. While the sea view is extremely amazing, it is also very impressive to learn that the island has a long human history of thousands of years and it becomes a place for sheep and cattle ranch in the 16th century. Just around 20 years ago, the island was suffering from huge amounts of non-native pigs and it took the government several years to catch all the pigs and restore the environment of the island. Currently, as the volunteers introduced, the environment of the island is becoming better and better each year.
